About Jaye Thompson: Who is She and Her Career?

Charlotte is the place of Janey’s birth, and she attended Myers Park High School. She was a Wake Forest University second-year biophysics major. She was a physics scholarship recipient at Wake, consistently making the dean’s list. Janey participated actively in Wake Forest.

Before switching to coaching in November 2023, she participated in intramural sports and club women’s basketball. This was because she had torn her meniscus and ACL during the intramural flag football championship. In addition to volunteering for Wake Radio, Janey belonged to the pre-dental health professional organization and the Tri Delta sorority.

Janey was delighted being an avid Wake Forest sports fan. She arrived early and stayed through every scheduled home baseball, basketball, and football game. Her favorite activities at Wake Forest were spending time with her friends in the dorm, working out at the rec center, and taking strolls in Reynolda Gardens while sipping delicious coffee.

Janey was a four-year varsity softball and basketball team member at Myers Park, where she played clarinet in the wind ensemble and jazz band. She was a team captain, an all-conference basketball player, and the 2022 Female Athlete of the Year winner.

Her best memories of participating in high school athletics were spending time with her girlfriends in the locker room and on the bus. During her five summers as a lifeguard at the Myers Park County Club, Janey set herself the goal of becoming the small children’s favorite lifeguard.

Jaye Thompson’s Abilities:

Janey was a devoted friend who also contributed to the fun. She was an excellent gift-giver and had a wicked sense of humor. Despite her many gifts, she maintained her kindness and modesty. She enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, board games, trivia, corn hole, and other competitions; listening to music of all kinds; lake Wylie; Ocean Isle Beach; shooting hoops in the backyard with her dad and brother; taking walks with her mother; doing anything and everything with her brother; spending time with friends; and enjoying a cold Diet Coke, stylish sneakers, inexpensive jewelry from Amazon, coffee, and books.

Despite its lack of contemporary features, she cherished her 16-year-old Honda Pilot Big Red. Janey gave her all in her studies and had equal enthusiasm for the intellectual and recreational aspects of her college experience. She genuinely found joy and goodness in other people and ordinary things.
