Baby’s remains discovered at the waste plant in Florida

Authorities say the body of an infant was found at a waste treatment plant in Florida. In an April 3 press release obtained by PEOPLE, West Palm Beach police said detectives found “body parts that appear to belong to an infant” at the Disposal Facility.

“Detectives believe it is the remains of an infant,” Jachles said, according to local media outlet WPTV, adding that detectives “ransied through the trash with rakes and tools.” and by hand to search for additional remains. Jachles added: “As of midnight, no other remains had been found other than those that workers had already identified. ”

The press release said detectives spent “hours” going through trash at the landfill. “An investigation is underway to identify the remains found,” the press release continued.”Detectives are reviewing surveillance video and truck movements within the facility as well as the tilted floor to assist in the investigation. The medical examiner has retrieved the remains for further examination.”
