It wasn’t because the Amarillo police had found her that her cold case was formally ended after more than 13 years. Instead, it occurred as a result of her calling them.

Amarillo police claimed that in November 2023, they got a call from a lady identifying herself as Delgadillo and letting them know that she had been reported missing. Following the collection and analysis of DNA samples by the University of North Texas, Delgadillo’s identification was established.

The Amarillo police did mention that Delgadillo is presently residing on the East Coast, even though she asked that her whereabouts and the specifics of her disappearance not be made public.

“With closure for the family, this case can finally be closed,” the Amarillo Police Department stated in an update.

Delgadillo’s case was among around fifty unresolved cases from the 1950s that the Amarillo police stated would be the focus of its Cold Case Unit when it was founded in 2022. It was requested that anybody with fresh information on an unresolved case contact the department at 806-378-9446, provide an anonymous report online, or use the P3 Tips App.
