Oklahoma police arrested four persons on suspicion of kidnapping and murder in connection with the March disappearance of two women who are still missing.
What Happened?
The four arrested and booked on Saturday were Tad Bert Cullum, 43; Tiffany Machel Adams, 54; Cole Earl Twombly, 50; and Cora Twombly, 44. They were placed into the Texas County Jail in Oklahoma on charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping, and conspiracy to commit murder, according to an Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation statement released on Saturday. State court records did not appear to suggest that charges had been filed, and the suspects’ names were not yet recorded as active detainees. It was unclear whether the suspects had legal representation. Authorities did not reveal what may have caused the absence; only the four were apprehended in Texas and Cimarron counties in the westernmost region of the Oklahoma panhandle.

“The OSBI and local law enforcement are still working to find the two victims,” the Bureau of Inquiry stated. On March 30, Texas County officials issued an “endangered missing advisory” for Veronica Butler, 27, and Jilian Kelley, 39, after the vehicle they were traveling in was discovered abandoned in a rural area of Texas County south of Elkhart, Kansas, according to the bureau.

“OSBI special agents immediately began investigating the vehicle and determined there was evidence to indicate foul play,” according to a statement released on Saturday.
Hunter McKee, a Bureau spokesperson, previously stated that the Texas County Sheriff’s Office deputies discovered the vehicle. They approached the car, but “these women are gone, and they’re nowhere to be seen,” he claimed. He said the inquiry was complicated by the remoteness of the location, which had few residences and businesses where investigators could ordinarily discover security cameras. Investigators did not share the specific evidence that suggested a crime had occurred. The two were on their way to pick up children, although it was unclear whether they belonged to either of the ladies. McKee stated that investigators believe the two are pals. Butler’s stepmother, Guadalupe Torres, revealed in an interview that Butler was involved in a contentious custody battle. According to court records, she is a party to a custody claim filed in 2021. Although the investigation’s bookings contained charges of murder, investigators have yet to disclose whether they are looking for bodies.
