What did Neil Patrick Actually Do?

Three months after the ‘Valerie’ singer passed away from alcohol poisoning in July 2011, Harris threw a Halloween party with a cake that resembled Winehouse’s corpse. Harris has already apologized for this matter. He made the statement when a picture from the celebration went viral earlier this year.
The statement says – “A photo recently resurfaced from a Halloween-themed party my husband and I hosted 11 years ago”.
“That was unfortunate back then, and it is still unfortunate today. Amy Winehouse was a unique talent, and I apologize for any harm this picture may have caused.” He further adds to the statement.

How did this controversial picture go viral?

Actor Justin Mikita, married to Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson, first tweeted the image. The graphic image shows a mold of Winehouse’s image, with one eye missing, her tongue dripping out of her mouth, and her face crumbling.

What Happened to Amy Winehouse back then?

After her dramatic rise to popularity in 2003 with her debut album Frank, Winehouse battled addiction and alcoholism for most of her adult life until passing away at the age of 27.

Many films have been made about her life. The most popular and discussed is Asif Kapadia’s “Amy”, which received harsh criticism from Winehouse’s father, Mitch. Publicly addressing his portrayal in the documentary, Mitch Winehouse referred to it as misleading. In order to improve his image, he also requested that the movie be recut before it was released to the public.

Amy’s family was also included in a more recent documentary, “Reclaiming Amy” that the BBC aired last year to mark the tenth anniversary of the popular singer’s death. In an effort to confront the effects of Winehouse’s death over the preceding ten years, “Reclaiming Amy” included interviews with her parents and some of her closest friends.
